SAGE Land & House Thailand: It's not all doom and gloom With all of the noise on the world's current state of affairs it is hard to say how the financial crisis will affect Thailand. This coupled with the political situation of Thailand has the market stuttering at the moment and prices falling, transforming the red hot property market in southern Thailand into a buyers market. And with more and more savvy investors and retirees wanting to secure their spot in paradise, it is only a matter of time until their full confidence returns. Don't think it will return quickly? Consider....
In the past we’ve had a Tsunami, bird Flu, SARS, a Military coup, Visa Regulations, Property Law changes and much more. And the question begs - Why does the market in Thailand continue to thrive?
The answer: Thailand has so much to offer! Be it Italian cuisine, German bread, cheap beer, chic and hip places to party, pristine nature or outdoor activities, and tropical warm weather - Thailand has it all. For those of you looking to get back to nature, there are islands with nature still intact; with awe inspiring sunsets where the sky fills with color; with swaying breezes that will lull any person laying in a hammock into deep dreamful sleep. Thailand has up-to-date infrastructure, be it advanced technological developments such as broadband Internet or well-maintained streets and highways and has a multi-cultural environment where English is well understood.
But there is also another reason why people typically move to Thailand – because it's a dream world – a place where "normal rules" as we know them from the West don't apply. Where sometimes men look like women and everyone seems fine with that because tolerance is not just an empty word. Where we have an abundance of sunshine and where the rainy season is less wet than the average summer in the Netherlands or the U.K.
Essentially, people come here to Thailand to get away from the restricting serious matters and to enjoy what's important to them in their life. And if there are enough people who want to escape to their newfound 'paradise', it's certainly enough to drive a property market!
And now in Thailand's crown jewel - Koh Phangan - the Kingdom's fourth largest island, paradise is being offered at lower prices than just about any other island in Thailand. Where you can still find a Rai (half an acre) of land for less than 2 million THB (approx. US$60,000) with road, electricity and water or find a villa for less than 6 million THB (US$180,000). When you come and visit this island, you know you are somewhere special, some paradise lost that cannot be found in the West any longer. Koh Phangan has a true multicultural mixture and a mesh between living with nature and still having the luxuries of the West. Check out some of the great offers available here on Koh Phangan, as Hugh Maller said, “God ain’t making no more land”, not the most eloquent way of putting it, but it sure hits home with the finite amount of space left on the planet and on these great islands here in Thailand.
