In the last three years property values have risen between 30-50% per annum. With improvements in the infrastructure and transportation service Koh Phangan is much more attractive to foreign investment.

General Information
Koh Phangan is an island paradise in the Gulf of Thailand located about 100 km from the coast of Southern Thailand's Surat Thani Province and about 15 km from the famous resort island of Koh Samui.

Koh Phangan is the largest of Samui's neighboring islands with an area of 168 square km. Over 70% of its total area is mountains and tropical forest. The lowlands are beaches and coconut fields.

The island has 9.2 sq. km of coral reef, which is 100 to 1000 meters wide, with its widest part in the Wok Tum area. 50-70% of the reef is alive with 300-500 meters covered in seaweed. The most abundant fish is the Mackerel.

Koh Phangan was once a favorite place for King Rama V. He visited the island fourteen times between 1888 and 1909. Historians and archaeologists believe that the first group who migrated to Koh Phangan was Sea-Gypsies (Pigmy, Semung and Proto-Malay), who traveled by boat from the Malay Peninsula

In the past 20 years the tourist industry has had the most prominent and lasting effects on the island. The influx of travelers has made Koh Phangan known throughout the world. The island is still in pristine condition and completely unspoiled. There are a surprising amount of attractions and features worth visiting for all types of tourists. This island, that was once considered the “back-door escape” from Koh Samui, has established itself over the years. Koh Phangan has a regular boat service and many places of interest, including four year-round waterfalls and a cave temple situated near a small typical Thai village town.
